Total EyeCare Optical Technician (16-24 hours/week) in Billings, Montana

We are seeking a relationship-oriented “go getter” to join our talented team as a Part-Time Technician (16-24 hours/week).The Technician performs diagnostic testing and assists optometrist(s) with patient eye exams. Other responsibilities include cleaning exam rooms and equipment, documenting patient information, coordinating patient referrals, answering phones and inventory management functions.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:•Obtain patient history and perform preliminary diagnostic workups, (including but not limited to: visual fields, tonometry, color and stereo testing, visual acuities, fundus photography, auto-refractions).•Open/close technician areas and exam rooms, cleaning rooms each morning and night.•Prepare exam rooms for patients; maintain cleanliness throughout day.•Manage medical records.•Conduct contact lens trainings and lens modifications.•Assist and communicate with OD and other technicians as needed.•Order/maintain exam room inventory and supplies.•Coordinate patient referrals - communicate with referring offices for scheduling and incoming/outgoing medical records. Ensures continuous improvement of system for accuracy and efficiency.•Triage patient phone calls, answer questions and resolve concerns as needed. •Manage contact lens inventory, supplies and patient orders.•On-board and train new technicians.•Promote staff communication and teamwork.•Fill in and assist team as needed.•Maintain procedure manual - develop, revise and update as needed.•Communicate with local representatives of contacts, supplies, etc.Minimum Qualifications:•High school diploma or equivalent.•Preferred: Associate’s degree in a related field.•Experience in an Optometric office is preferred, but not required. •Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.•Excellent verbal and written communication skills.•Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.•Ability to prioritize tasks, delegating when appropriate.•Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.•Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.Competitive compensation depending on experience.
