We are seeking an experienced Sr. Director, Strategic Sporting Goods join our Outdoor Performance Global Commercial team. The Outdoor Performance Platform priorities are to be consumer-first, to lead with our power brands, and to invest in the portfolio. The Global Commercial team will focus on driving growth by winning customers and channels while finding efficiency in a consolidated commercial management structure.

As the Sr. Director, Strategic Sporting Goods , you will oversee the development and execution of strategic plans to drive growth, profitability, and market share across the sporting goods channel. In this role, you will identify market trends, analyze competition, and collaborate closely with various teams to ensure alignment with the company’s goals and objectives. Your visionary guidance and leadership will motivate the Strategic Sporting Goods Accounts team to excel and attain the ambitious goals set by the company. Your strategic vision and leadership will be crucial in navigating the ever-changing landscape of the sporting goods market, staying ahead of the curve, and driving innovation within the organization.

This position reports to the Head of Global Commercial and is based in Bozeman, Montana .

As the Sr. Director of Strategic Sporting Goods, you will have an opportunity to:

  • Gain a thorough understanding of the marketplace and the competitive field that our Outdoor Performance brands are in. Evaluate geographic regions, determine the greatest growth opportunities, and implement strategies to achieve.

  • Proactively engage sales management team, sales representatives, and retailers.

  • Recruit, coach, and mentor a world-class sales team to support the platform's seasonal and long-range business objectives.

  • Manage and motivate sales force to achieve annual revenue targets.

  • Create annual sales plans and update forecasts regularly. Analyze performance vs. plan, and coordinate with regions and sales team to achieve results.

  • Identify sales growth opportunities and challenges and lead the sell-in cycle.

  • Meet with accounts as needed.

You have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent required.

  • Leadership skills required to manage independent rep force and lead direct reports (Sales Manager, Specialty and Sales Manager, Key Accounts) and work effectively with Simms peers (Sr. Director of Sales Opps, planning, product, and finance teams).

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as an account manager, preferably for an outdoor industry.

  • Demonstrated ability to analyze account-specific needs to develop and implement a strategic plan and to grow business.

  • Ability to develop and manage relationships with key decision-makers and influencers.

  • A proven track record of exceptional organizational, planning, and negotiating skills in addition to exceptional verbal and written communication.

  • Overnight travel up to 50%.
