VIG Hayhook Ranch Farm Hand in Livingston, Montana

VIG Hayhook Ranch LLC is a thriving ranch dedicated to ethical farming practices and producing high-quality crops and livestock. We are currently seeking a dedicated and hardworking full-time Farm Hand to join our team in Livingston, MT. As a Farm Hand at VIG Hayhook Ranch LLC, you will play a crucial role in the day-to-day operations of our farm and ranch operation. You will work closely with our experienced team to perform general farm work, such as maintaining farm equipment and planting, cultivating and harvesting crops. You will also assist with maintaining the cow-calf operation of the ranch.In this job, you will:Perform duties associated with managing the crops of the operation, including planting, inspecting, cultivating, and harvesting crops.Irrigate farm soil and maintain ditches or pipes and pumps.Apply fertilizer or pesticide solutions to control insects, fungi, and weeds.Make decisions about crops by evaluating factors such as market conditions, disease, soil conditions, and the availability of federal programs.Choose and buy supplies, such as seed, fertilizer, and farm machinery.Operate, inspect, maintain and repair farm equipment, such as tractors and machinery.Perform landscape maintenance, such as weed control and snowplowing.Perform general farm work associated with maintaining the cow-calf operation of the ranch, including daily care, watering, minerals and practicing stress-free handling of livestock.Feed livestock and cleans and disinfects their cages, pens, and yards.Examine animals to detect symptoms of illnesses or injuries and administers vaccines to protect animals from diseases.Use brands, tags, or tattoos to mark livestock ownership and grade.Herd livestock to pastures for grazing or to scales, trucks, or other enclosures.Clean and maintain ranch buildings and facilities.Drive trucks and tractors to transport goods and distribute feed and seeds.Perform other related duties as assigned.Minimum Qualifications:High school diploma preferred2-3 years of related experience required.Knowledge of irrigation equipment (Pivots, Flood and Water Wheel Sprinklers).Knowledge of crop and livestock care and maintenance.Knowledge of farm and ranch equipment care, maintenance and safety.Ability to follow instructions from supervisors or senior maintenance workers.Knowledge of general carpentry and repair.Ability to use hand tools and power tools.Strong communication and organizational skillsValid driver’s license and reliable transportationBenefits of working for VIG Hayhook Ranch include competitive compensation commensurate with experience, medical, dental and vision insurance, health savings account with employer match, 401(k) retirement with employer match, and paid time off.
