Water Technician I or II needed for Murray City, Utah.

Salary: $19.48 - $29.57 hourly DOE (Water Tech I)
$21.22 - $32.21 hourly DOE (Water Tech II)

General Description: Under the close supervision from a Water Technician IV, performs a variety of unskilled and semi-skilled work in maintaining the water system for Murray City Public Works.
Minimum Requirements:
Water Technician I
- Six (6) months construction/laborer experience.
Water Technician II
- Two (2) years of experience as a Water Technician I, or any equivalent combination of education and construction experience.
Special Requirements:
Water Technician I
- Must be able to obtain a Class A Utah Commercial Driver License with tanker endorsement within six (6) months of appointment.
- Must be able to obtain a State of Utah Grade II Water Distribution Operator certificate within twelve (12) months of appointment.
- Must be able to obtain Flag Person Certification within six (6) months of appointment.
- Must be generally available and respond to emergency "call outs" at any time of day, year-round, regardless of weather conditions.
Water Technician II
- Must have a valid Class A Utah Commercial Driver License with tanker endorsement.
- Must possess a State of Utah, Grade II Water Distribution Operator certification.
- Must obtain a Competent Person Trenching and Excavation certification within twelve (12) months of appointment.
- Must be a certified Flag Person.
- Must successfully pass a written and practical operations test specific to Murray City Water Department.
- Must perform duties on trouble truck and must be generally available and respond within 30 minutes to emergency "call outs" at any time of day, year-round, regardless of weather conditions.
Essential Duties:
- Repairs and replaces broken pipes, water mains, valving, fire hydrants, sample stations, fittings, meters, vaults, boxes, and other critical water infrastructure.
- Performs a wide variety of maintenance and construction requiring no special training or skills.
- Maintains Murray City Water Facilities, landscape improvements, irrigation installs and repairs, concrete replacement, snow removal and all other necessary work.
- Assists with cleaning and maintaining Murray City tools, vehicles, and equipment. Reports any mechanical problems to Supervisor or Water Technician IV.
- Assists in the operation of the valve truck.
- Becomes generally familiar with and complies with all Murray City safety rules and regulations, SOPs, and specifications.
- Performs related duties as required.
