Our team secures the Microsoft Cloud and our customers by designing and building cloud-scale Secrets Management and PKI services for Azure. We collaborate with an inclusive team to deliver features to our biggest customers and improve our engineering systems. We partner with other Identity, Azure, Office, Dynamics, and Xbox teams to deliver the distributed systems and experiences for a secure platform that enables our customers to have control over their data--even from Microsoft. We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to build and manage services with an Assume Breach mindset enabling protection, detection, and response against targeted attacks and sophisticated adversaries.

Responsibilities

• Build, evolve and co-own a hyper-scale distributed service. 

• Participate in all stages of service lifecycle.

• Dive deep into global-scale service issues and drive improvements to resiliency, latency, and product reliability.

• Promote improvements in the quality and stability of service fundamentals and promote engineering best practices. 

• Demonstrate effective customer empathy, curiosity and willingness to question and learn, and participation in live site on-call rotation.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or related technical discipline AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python

o OR equivalent experience.

• 2+ years of cloud infrastructure experience.

• 2+ years of experience running a highly distributed backend storage system.

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: 

• Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Software Engineering IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $112,000 - $218,400 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $145,800 - $238,600 per year.
