Microsoft Corporation Senior Tax Manager - Latin American Area in Redmond, Washington

Microsoft Tax & Customs Department is responsible for Worldwide Tax & Customs Reporting, Compliance, and Planning, including the technology and process to support the coordination of the worldwide tax and customs function. We are looking for a Senior Tax Manager - Latin American Area (LATAM) to join our team.

Responsibilities

  • Advise on all tax matters throughout LATAM.

  • Perform legal research and analysis on a variety of LATAM tax issues.

  • Monitor business and legislative changes impacting compliance across LATAM region.

  • Advise on global tax considerations, implications and risk regarding Microsoft business initiatives.

  • Work cross-functionally and across regions to provide clear, consistent and comprehensive tax requirements to enable strategic business and improve customer experience and internal systems.

  • Ensure compliance with applicable tax laws and regulations in both launch and operations globally.

  • Develop understanding of Microsoft businesses and internal financial systems and tools.

  • Work cross-functionally within Tax and across Business, Finance, Legal and Engineering.

Qualifications

Required/Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Tax, Law, or related field AND 6+ years tax compliance, tax accounting, tax audit management or tax advisory experience

  • OR Advanced Degree (e.g., Master's in Business, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Taxation or related field; J.D.; LL.M. in Taxation) AND 5+ years tax compliance, tax accounting, tax audit management or tax advisory experience

  • OR equivalent experience.

Preferred/Additional qualifications:

  • JD, CPA or Masters in Taxation

  • 6+ years of relevant experience in taxes and fees across LATAM

  • Experience in both industry and law firm/Big 4 accounting firm highly desired

  • Proficient partnering capabilities with proven ability to develop meaningful relationships with cross-functional stakeholders and to influence and collaborate across groups

  • Ability to think end-to-end from strategic planning through multi-year execution

  • Effective oral and written communication and analytical skills; ability to communicate complex analysis in a clear, simple way

  • Analytical and problem-solving skills with experience exercising mature judgment and best practices;

  • Proven success managing and prioritizing multiple projects across a fast-paced and continually changing environment

Tax IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $94,600 - $183,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $122,000 - $200,500 per year.
