GE Healthcare Electrical Engineering Manager in Salt Lake City, Utah

Job Description Summary

This leader will be based in our Salt Lake City facility where we design C-Arm machines used in a variety of surgical settings.

As part of the Engineering organization, the Electrical Engineering Manager has comprehensive responsibility for supervising a team of Electrical engineers and designers, as well as direct contribution to development of technical solutions and products. They will provide the strategic vision and roadmap for the electrical development and architecture. In this role the manager will provide technical knowledge/differentiation in product development while leading people, managing projects, directing the business planning processes and handling customer interactions. They will provide leadership to drive operations, innovation, and collaboration with both internal and external partners.

Job Description

Manage a team of Electrical engineers, designers, and technicians.

  • Support of manpower assessment and planning.

  • Recommend resource assignments.

  • Provide career/training guidance to direct reports.

  • Manage employee performance of direct reports; identify functional needs/gaps.

  • Support recruiting/hiring efforts.

  • Evaluate and recommend engineering tools.

  • Provide process compliance and tailoring guidance.

  • Responsible for leading the development of the functional roadmap centered on emerging technologies, cost reduction and system benefits.

  • Lead/contribute to Electrical technical solutions and products.

  • Lead/contribute to a project team, a tiger team, or a process improvement initiative.

  • Design, analyze, integrate and document products, systems or subsystems

  • Provide technical guidance and oversight to include concept development and peer/design review participation.

  • Support verification testing, transition to production, and field issue resolution.

  • Provide budget, cost, and schedule input.

  • Participate in proposals.

  • Mentor engineers/designers.

  • Support, communicate, reinforce, and defend the mission, values and culture of the organization.

  • Inspire team’s engagement in all phases of product development.

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum Bachelor of Science in STEM (Electrical engineering preferred), or equivalent work experience.

  • A minimum of 5 years of professional experience in project or people leadership within a product development or research development environment plus 10 years overall EE engineering experience.

Desired Characteristics:

  • Experience planning development tasks (labor estimates, schedule creation).

  • Demonstrated ability to deliver results while working on multiple projects simultaneously, balancing resources, timing, and quality of outcomes.

  • Experience with medical devices.

  • Master’s degree.
