State of Utah - Jobs IT Master Network Engineer in SALT LAKE CITY, Utah

The State of Utah Department of Technology Services (DTS) is seeking a Master Network Engineer who will deliver solutions with a focus on network security in the network core,data center,and cloud network infrastructures. This is an exciting opportunity to make key contributions towards integrating next-generation technologies. The Master Network Engineer provides advanced technical support to both internal and external clients,including network software,hardware,routers,switches,and various transmission systems using a variety of diagnostic tools in support of efficient network operations. In this role,you are responsible for planning,designing,implementing,analyzing,and maintaining a large network's highly complex cloud,core,and data center infrastructures.

This position is currently a hybrid of both in-office (2 days required in office) and telework days. The office is located at the Taylorsville State Office Building 4315 S 2700 W Taylorsville,Utah. Please note,a position's eligibility for telework is established by agency management and is subject to change at their discretion at any time and for any reason.

Preference may be given to those with:

  • Network certification and/or other specialized education/training (Relevant industry certifications,Cisco CCNP,Palo Alto PCNSE,AWS,GCP,CompTIA,Juniper,Fortinet NSE,CISSP,etc.) 
  • Familiarity with data center and core/cloud architecture network designs,implementations,and support
  • Experience with Strategy,planning,engineering,and implementing large-scale firewall solutions
  • Programming/scripting languages and frameworks knowledge and experience in support of automation and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) Examples: Python,Terraform,Ansible,etc
  • Ability to create presentation materials,generate reports,and present to appropriate stakeholders,including leadership 
  • Ability to explain advanced concepts to engineers,peers,and leadership
  • Ability to mentor team members of all skill levels 
  • Create Methods of Procedures as they correspond to Design/Architect and Build technical documents for knowledge base contributions
  • Analysis/Requirements gathering and Business flow Automation recommendations 
  • Configure and manage reporting,metrics,monitoring,notifications,etc. on SolarWinds and/or other network performance tools. 
  • Willingness to learn and apply new skills,techniques,or methods
  • Honestly communicates when there is a need or a challenge to getting the work done
  • Seeks to maintain the proper training and certifications
  • Makes decisions appropriate to job duties and organizational level
  • Contribute to Root Cause Analysis with advanced network troubleshooting techniques
