The Director of Safety provides leadership to the Company on all Safety matters. Directs and facilitates the performance of the safety administration staff and management. Ensures company compliance with Federal and State agencies. Acts as the primary contact for Safety initiatives and directs the maintenance and delivery of all Safety Training Programs. This position is domiciled at the corporate headquarters in Tualatin, OR and reports to the VP of Safety and Labor Relations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Represents the company in safety matters.
Ensures and oversees the company compliance with respect to the Department of Transportation (DOT), Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), and other Federal and state agencies.
Acts as the primary contact for Safety initiatives and directs the maintenance and delivery of all Safety Training Programs.
Assists with development and implementation of safety strategies and Safety communications.
Ensures effective emergency response to and reporting of Hazardous Material releases.
Implements an effective information system which promotes safety awareness and risk management.
Oversees Electronic Logging Device (ELD) Compliance and Training.
Bachelor's Degree in a safety related field of motor transportation or applicable are preferred
5 years risk management or safety department experience.
Candidate must possess working knowledge of DOT guidelines, OSHA compliance, hazardous material handling and the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Act, including the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations (FMCSR).
5 years prior supervisory experience.
Ability to travel with minimal notice (approximately 20% travel)
Professional credentials and certifications a plus
